MMU launches Graduate School of Management

PUTRAJAYA: Multimedia University (MMU) became the first private university to offer graduate studies in management with the launch of its Graduate School of Management (GSM) yesterday.

GSM was launched by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, who said the move was in line with the government's aim of making Malaysia a regional and international hub for postgraduate education.
"Currently, Malaysia only has two government-recognised business schools -- the UKM Graduate School of Business and UPM Graduate School of Management.
"MMU's GSM is moving in the right direction towards becoming a top business school in Malaysia," he said.
The limited number of institutions accorded the status was due to stringent requirements placed by the ministry, Khaled said.
"The institution should be able to operate autonomously, receive accreditation by relevant bodies and be able to provide a holistic experience for students."
Khaled said the course was expected to impact Malaysia's long-term business management and entrepreneurial landscape.
Dubbed MMU 2.0, the programme aims to make MMU a recognised top 100 university in Asia by 2022.
